ANNOUNCEMENT: BONJOUR NEW HAIRCUT!

When I came to my hairdresser, macbook in toe, I had a vision for exactly how I wanted my new hair to look: a boy cut. Yes, those were my exact words, I wanted a boy cut. Bangs but not really and very precise cut edges. Getting your hairs drastically changed like I did was a huge step for me, much like everything i've been going through these past few months, and I was ready to just let go of everything and do what I wanted to before prom season rolled around, cut my hair OFF! Last time I was in her chair for a drastic haircut I left in tears but ended up falling in love. Before this cut my actual hair was down to my shoulders but I still had my weave in from prom, which took about an hour to take out. This go around I went way shorter (no bangs), edged up on the sides, dyed my hair back to jet black (because my natural hair color is a disgusting dusty brown) and voila! My new hair goes a little like this:
Oh, I forgot to mention that I also got a new pair of glasses :) I can finally, after going two years blind, can see. No those are not personality glasses, but I love that style so I had to get them (I also got a pair of black rimmed ones). Anyhoo, I AM IN LOVE with my hair, can't wait to see how it looks when it starts growing back, but i'll probably chop it back down again.

throwback: BIG PUN FEATURING TONY SUNSHINE - 100% (2000)

There is absolutely NO way you can go to the puerto rican day parade in NEW YORK CITY and NOT hear this song. I love BIG PUN to pieces and this song, along with many he has done, are part of my favorites. He unfortunately couldn't make an appearance in this number because he died before it was made; rest in peace Pun! This song just makes me want to get up and salsa in a neon colored bikini with BIG PUN bejeweled across the butt, waving a random south american country that I am most certainly not even a little bit native from.

news: MY INSANELY PROFANE, AND VALID, YET HILARE, LETTER WAS ON MISSJIA.COM

YES. It was I who penned (yes I hand wrote it first but I eventually ended up typing it) this "letter" to Alicia Keys that doesn't necessarily go to her but it is for the popular gossip blog that I love MISS JIA, who has a series called "Dear Celebrity" where you write a letter venting with as many puns, jokes, and valid points you feel are needed to say something that you may love, hate, or cannot believe a certain celebrity did for the many readers of her blog to read. Well my letter caused QUITE the rumble with over 100 comments (140 to be exact) of people who agreed with what I said, disagreed with what I said, or threatened me because of what I said. It was funny to say the least but I chose Alicia Keys for a reason. Rather than elaborating the reason, just click here to read the letter in its entirety.

life: Maura's Graduation Cookout (7/10/10)

It was my best friend Maura's graduation cookout that brought together us college bound girls after spending months in a summer hiatus of not seeing each other. This pow wow was filled with chicken, snacks galore, a fire pit, salsa music, hammock girl talk and sisterly love. Continue on for the visual proceedings that speak better than my words:

random: CLEANING OUT MY CLOSET (EMINEM STYLE)

...Well not entirely Eminem style, for there are no pill addicted mothers or skeletons in the mix but I did however finally clean out my closet this summer. I must say though, as I was taking pictures of my progress I grew more and more disappointed at the lack of color in my closet. It's so bad that when I looked at the pictures I thought they were in black and white!
I put a fur carpet inside my closet for my shoes and FEZ (my pup pictured above) was so enamored by it he took it as me finally setting up a nice comfy playroom for him. He was highly disappointed when he saw he'd have shoes for roommates thus spawning him to move out abruptly.

"I remember when I asked you what kind of colors you had in your closet and you said: 'Grey, black, white and blue, you know earth tones'.... Just because this color *Tashi points at dress* looks good on me doesn't mean i'm going to have only this color in my closet lol" - Tashi

Tashi has a point, and from this point on, I vow to take more risks with my wardrobe as far as color goes because there are lots of different colors that good on me but I just always go for the black, grey, blue or any other earth tone version of said piece of clothing. But I do however take risks when it comes to my scarfs! I love scarfs :)

throwback: SUGAR RAY - SOMEDAY (1999)

What's a summer without the background music of all of your proceedings consisting of Sugar Ray? Not a good summer if I may say so myself. After it being about 11 years (maybe even more) since the first time I heard this tune, it still brings back the old feelings and vibes I once had. This is such a classic, road tripping, screaming the lyrics in a drunken tizzy with your best friends song that should be heard at least once a day during the summer. Whether you're cruising in your car, basking in the sun, or doing some type of outdoor activity, Sugar Ray will always be the right group for the mood. Sadly I wish they were still around making this type of music but it's a classic for a reason.

throwback: ESTHERO - THAT GIRL (1998)

Absolutely love ESTHERO and her red hair. This entire album was a huge sleeper and very under the radar. I tell people about her and I get the strangest looks imaginable which is strange because I can't believe NO ONE could possibly have lived through the 90's and not heard of one song from her. Her other albums were disappointing compared to BREATH FROM ANOTHER but she was unfortunately ahead of her time, much like other artists that came and went in the 90's. But anyway, enjoy this lovely throwback.
